Stage 2 – Landscape: Wellness Centre

Our stage 2 ‘landscape’ module was sited at the Oare Gunpowder Works in Faversham. The site was ideally chosen to accommodate a module which focused on both our building proposal its relation to a winder landscape context. The Oare Gunpowder Works provide an isolated and tranquil environment with thick woodland vegetation which opens to fields on the north boundary and a wetland at its lower southern boundary.

For my proposal I chose to look towards the varied Maggie’s Centres for inspiration in designing a general wellness centre. The relation of the building to its adjacent gardens proved to be crucial in this module as well as the wider landscape which would provide a secluded environment in a woodland setting for recovering patients.
